Neither the Bank nor the FDIC has issued such an email. This scam may be attempted via regular mail, courier service, or by phone. Do not provide any information. Instead, contact the Bank using the number you normally call or go to the FDIC's website as you normally do. NEVER use a link provided by an email that was not generated as a followup to a transaction you initiated and be leary of any web addresses not provided by the Bank in a bank account statement or other normal communication.

January 26, 2006 - A new Federeal Deposit Insurance Corporation ( FDIC ) on-line tool was released to help educate consumers how to better protect their computers and themselves from identity theft, and steps to take if they have been victimized. The presentation: Don’t Be an On-Line Victim: How to Guard Against Internet Thieves and Electronic Scams is now on the Federal Trade Commission's ( FTC )website and may be reached via the FDIC’s website at www.fdic.gov/consumers/consumer/index.html.
